As it was my impression some of gaming houses that ran Magic, The Gathering were run by a bunch of creeps, never got into them, although Jyhad is a scream. Nowadays, there seems to be a set of more definitive rules in Pokémon, good if there is a venue nearby to try them out, otherwise surf online.. For my benefit at least, here’s a video on the basics:

Bit of a cockup actually, received this email from VentraIp on 24/10:

On behalf of the entire VentraIP team, we want to thank you for continuing your services with us.
While preparing to transfer your existing services from your previous TPG Group provider, we wanted to touch base and inform you of what is happening.

My bold. On 3/11 got this email which I assumed was from the same mob as above:

On 27 September 2023, you will have received communication from iiNet regarding the closure of their Domain Registration and Hosting Services.
iiNet advised they will “cease providing Domain Registration Services and Business Hosting services, including website, email, and domain hosting (DNS) services as well as sub-domains” to their customers effective on 31 October 2023. They also advised that from this date, TPP Wholesale will continue to manage your domain names directly (until and unless you decide to migrate this to another provider).

This all seemed a bit unusual without the obligatory closer look, assuming the TPG of VentraIP was the same as TPP of TPP Wholesale. And -er – of course TPP had my email as they happen to be the registrants after all. Whoops!
So cocked up the move to VentraIP and of course my assurance to iiNet I was to be included in the batched move over to VentraIP, which would have surely been much smoother transition.
And to make matters worse, compare the reviews of VentraIP to TPP (mine happens to be rather generous)!
Having confirmed the consensus the TPP are more than willing, but less than able, we’re in for the long haul of hilarity, and yep, the OP of this thread continues with an update at cPanel!
Because of zero encryption of the mailbox will be sending a password protected zipped file of the cPanel login with the password: keys321.

Stearnvault would be proud to host a piccy of the Thorens in action!
If the record shops are doing good business over your way, such transactions this way are not initiated as yet. The record player being somewhat long in the tooth will require a bit of a giddy up before spinning a disc. Nice selection, and the BSG soundtrack is on the list. 🙂
In that case, the card issue warrants a separate thread, no?

Nothing like a cool change, after a very dry year, we are also receiving some much needed rain.
Funny thing happened with hibernate resume, pressing escape out of the W11 lockscreen (which wants to be turned off) the screen looked like a still version of the sea in this Fata Morgana animation:

Hard reset required, and, talking of wonderful Windows, got this in the feed, of course an OEM version here, funnily enough no difference in price to the retail version, so to all intents and purposes it’s identical to the retail. Any difference with yours?

Haven’t seen any of those, was the early one silent? Did any of those movies ever “do justice” to the book, as with Through the Looking Glass, a priceless masterpiece.

Did happen to see the original Piranha the other day, funny thing is, do now faintly recall seeing it many years ago. Nice one, with plenty of thrills, with respect to such the classification of Comedy Horror is somewhat misleading, Light Horror is a better fit. If you will, the subject and impact of the movie’s horror scenes are portrayed in a somewhat lighter vein.
The whys and wherefores of the satirical movie Bamboozled came out as somewhat … bamboozling, notably in ways the director and writers had not intended. Do like the ads though:

Ditched Cache Enabler in favour of Litespeed in cPanel, site seems to be much quicker. Also ditched myPHPAdmin as it is also part of cPanel repertoire. 🙂
Edit: By flaw or design (fake or fortune / trick or treat), the big red important BuddyPress notification (at the right of the top ribbon) holds up the addition of less important more recent notifications to the drop-down list. Which leads to the question – are we inveigled enough to the point of taking their word for it, by considering the installation of BP Classic as the next best thing to vault (forgive the double entawdre) us into a new reality ?

                      Nice. What’s it for?

We’ve been having some icky weather lately. It’s been about 65 – 70ish with extremely high humidity lately so the humidity inside is around 75% and has been 100% outside. Not fun! The next project around here for the handyman is to replace the weatherstripping. That should help! Due to the temperature range, running the air conditioner won’t really do much other than drive up the electric bill needlessly so it’s a mite uncomfortable here.

Yes, over here the A/C is an option of last resort. Else, in sultry weather it’s windows wide open with a brisk fan blowing throughout. The fan here has a loud creak only fixable by slicing open the smooth and shiny shielding, an action entailing permanent excision from the present décor. 😛

T’was a prolonged outage, an unplanned two weeks of absolute black out, and white out, as the 500 errors proved. Avoidable, if not feelin’ so foreign, in many a rabbit warren. 😛

We’re over there. Now waiting for the nameservers to propagate to ns1.name-server.io and ns1.name-server.io, the old mob indicated they have automated some of it, yet as expected at this time, a few issues remain un-ironed out, (or ironed in). 😛
Planning for a Site Info page for Ventra – being based pretty on the same Apache model, much of the stuff will turn out the same.

Yep! Sliding bookcases or murals are fun for sure, as well as rotating ones sporting a naughty drinks cabinet on one side, and a more staid bible studies collection on the other.
Consider peepholes in walls, especially in paintings. Holes for the eyes can inserted by artistically minded visitors in the vein of Dr. Blood.
Also rooms inviting alternate perspectives like the following can be an eye turner:
                            Hoogstraten's Peepshow
Channeling Escher or even this beauty from Patrick Hughes.
Waterparks must have fountains, you know, featuring statues with water jetting out from certain places, the ultimate cure for urinary retention!
Miniature curiousities, such as what unfolds inside a Dr. Who’s tardis, a virtual labyrinth of time!

That’s right, select a Murphy bed style to suit! Thinks like revolving bookcases/drink cabinets in walls were a fun feature in shows like Get Smart or James Bond – even a three way bookcases/drink/secret passage is good for a haunted house mystery theme. Unable to pull up any scenes via Google to demonstrate, unfortunately. 🙁
Yep, waterpark with a hint of Waterworld thrown in for extra cheer. 😛

Indeed. 🙂 Party party party in with fanfare and a flurry of bells, streamers, confetti, bon bons, hooters with seven dancing girls and seven dancing valets with the champagne!

Just for the record, an unhonourable mention of the “Account deactivation: Take action” email from Outlook sitting in the Walrus Ramblings mailbox. It relates to the removal of the M365 account from the client app on this rig. As an alternative personal email address stored in the M365 account was associated with my ISP, the appearance of the email looked very much out of place – verging on the intrusive. One way to test the authenticity of the email is to repeat the process of removing the M365 account from EM Client, an activity, for now at least, scheduled for the week beginning the 12th of Never. 😛

                                About this page

Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it’s really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?

This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop. In the meantime, solving the above CAPTCHA will let you continue to use our services.

This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. Learn more

Sometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly.

The support team for Smeg didn’t want the 100 mb video file created and edited with Clipchamp. So, the easiest thing to do was use Youtube filtering to get the thing down to just under 12mb, at the same resolution.

                                      It’s shockingly bad!
Speedtest provide reasonable results for this connection, the upload speed is low according to typical DSLAM configuration. It took more than thirty minutes to upload that video to youtube, if only the upload speed was 1MBS or even half that – all done in under five minutes.

We’re all going to be wafted up to the cloud(s), where the future promises a safe haven for our souls, thoughts and aspirations. leaving all earthly concerns, and hardware behind. 🙂
Meanwhile, after a kind lady asked me to re-install OneDrive, had absolutely tons of hours of fun with it, completely free of charge. That is, all charge of energy has been drained from this form, leaving a lifeless OneShell of OneNess in OneLimbo! 🙁

Edit: The notifications dropdown on youtube used to have clipped text for the first words in the video description, they have now replaced it with “For you”. Even though it’s very nice of them to say that, it’s futile attempting to stave off the advancing notion that something has been (un)intentionally barfed. 😛

Watch those sponges! There was someone on the radio today with something to say about carnivorous sponges. Here’s a refresher:

In the actual Windows boot, do they up the performance of the power plan until the core system is loaded? Because of the size of the hosts file, it’s taking a long time for the internet to come online after boot, hence the question.

From the big red notification, BuddyPress will go all blocky on us! The warning doesn’t make much sense:

You are still using the BP Default theme.

Doesn’t this apply to all existing users as their new block theme won’t be ready until the end of next year?

You still use a BP Legacy Widget.

We have legacy widgets like groups, doesn’t everyone though? BTW does this widget dialog appear anywhere in their config?

Not much on BBPress compatibility, the new features are cool, although it looks as if we won’t have to worry about it (or BP Classic) until next year hopefully. 🙂
