It’s now back and the logs only give up BugCheckProgress: 0x00040049.
The original C: Drive SSD was installed with Windows in late July. Mr Fixit added in an old Working SATA (not the faulty one above) in early August. There exists a 2GB dump dated that day in LiveKernelReports which most likely relates to that enumeration of that drive. It was I:…[Read more]

Couple of years back Boris did take the ENB forums offline due to spambots and scrapes. No matter, all the content is amazingly preserved (minus image links) at WayBack, including some old posts courtesy yours truly here. Still not absolutely convinced ENBoost did anything much other than boost player confidence. 😛

Mr Fixit came back with the drive H/W as okay, after reseating and re-installing the drive. Will pick up the rig next week. Not 100% sure of the health of the drive as some programs exhibited a little glitchiness – could be a memory thing too.

Ever found the safety features on some power boards overkill? Here’s an example, but there was an easy solution this time. 🙂
When very young, was inspired by the different designs and implementations of power poles. Some of note in this country, Britain and notably, France. Nothing compared to…[Read more]

Fascinating! Interesting comments as well, the in 2020 warns of the downsides of using SF6 in the breakers. Not too hot on electrostatic loudspeakers unfortunately.
The copper foil sheets would make a difference for shielding as well – Marantz comes to mind for that.

Aw snap, something happened to the Micron 3400 SSD. Not long after resume from hibernation Windows detected an error, after which the PC would boot up to the BIOS. No boot device found. No idea what the cause is – other than a power spike which got through the UPS or too hot from a fan fail?

Good sc-fi is sadly lacking these days – and more Black Mirror please!
There are bound to be some good horror shows at IA, time to get a list up. 🙂
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, is recommended if for nothing else but its epic style and presentation of Tolkien-like heroes. The atmosphere encompassing the build-up through the first few…[Read more]

Further eruptions of shenanigans, now with hibernation – Hibernate Resume: How to wake on USB keyboard and not on USB mouse?
It’s personal preference really that nudging a mouse should wake the system. If the mouse is configured to wake the computer, the pointer can sometimes be lost due to the weird handling of the power state.
Hibernate is also…[Read more]

Great info on the site! 🙂
The Answers section is a bit odd on account of the thin detail in most of the questions – as of late most of those would get a fairly good quality response in the browser AIs.
What kind of vacuum tubes are you working with? There’s some good info at Antique Radios where it’s proposed the reliability of some may not be…[Read more]

Just curious if Code Geass is available in other languages – take it there is an English dub?
Back to some of the other stuff – admittedly much of it is formula driven along with recurrences of familiar themes. Treasure & Dirt offers a wide spectrum of character templates mixed together in a raw and cinematic setting of heat, rock and intrigue and…[Read more]

Someone on a comedy show mentioned – The Hindenburg?

Funny thing, after connecting the Windows account to the new PC, got a couple of Welcome to Windows 11 emails about a week on. Guess there is no way MS know how long you have been running the PC on a device only account beforehand, else the email could read something like “A Belated Welcome to Windows 11 (in case your initial experience was…[Read more]

Wonder if they’ll ever get an explore-at_own_risk/no_particular_destination mode for robots? No doubt extra accommodation will be appreciated by travellers ending up in places like Timbuktu!

Excellent list of games, do the community features extend to participation – anonymous players joining in at any time for eternal ArchLinux Hall of Fame glory?
Yikes, the above link was retired, and the above keyboard lights issue has undergone some resolution.

Our local Mr Fixit put it all together rather smoothly until I presented him with an old SATA drive that was thought to be okay – but had an invalid status with the read only flag permanently on. 😛

Yeah, there’s also an issue with using batteries (in either series or parallel) with differing DCIRs/Capacity/Voltage in torches, say, when things can get rather unstable.

There’s a nice little article on sharpening:

Careful, He Might Hear You suffers from a once common Australian ailment – superb orchestration to much over the top in covering the comparatively mediocre dramatic episodes that bedeck the narrative. Still, themes and motifs are consistent, and the happy ending comes as a pleasant surprise.
