  • Inserting emoji on Linux isn’t exactly intuitive. Ctrl + Shift + E brings up an “e” in the text area. At first, I thought it was just a letter but if you hit Space, it brings up the emoji menu. They should make it more obvious 😛

  • Good to know. Have you tried the Enhanced versions? I wonder if they fix some of the quirks.

Do they mean that the original plays nicer with mods or that mods improve it more than they would the Enhanced version?

So Mewtwo is hard! I’ve only found two Pokemon that are actually able to survive a battle with it: Spiritomb and Mew. The latter was released just for the event and has some special properties to let it handle Mewtwo while the former is Dark/Ghost so is immune to almost all of Mewtwo’s moves save for Ice Beam, which doesn’t do a whole lot of…[Read more]

Another thing to try would be to see if it exists in another WebKit/Blink-based browser. Since I don’t get it in Chrome, it could very well be an uncaught exception or some other bug in Edge

  • Spastic Hamburger replied to the topic ERR_CACHE_MISS in the forum Forum 1 year, 2 months ago

Have you tried Firefox? It uses a different rendering engine than Safari/Edge/Chrome etc so it may help isolate the problem. I haven’t had the issues myself with Chrome but it could be something related to how other software is interacting with the browser

I remember getting a card for free game time, I think it was for three months, with a computer of mine twenty years ago for the second game. Never used it for some reason, even though I did try WoW (wasn’t my cup of tea: too much grinding). I’m really surprised that they’re both still online. They definitely don’t do a whole lot of advertising so…[Read more]

  • I really should watch Flash Gordon again. It’s a lot of fun!

  • Three of them and what I did was use the daisy-chaining feature of DisplayPort to clean up the mess of cables. Nice and tidy! 🙂

    Yep, that’s the one!

Huh, looks like EverQuest is still online. Don’t know why I thought of it last night as I never did play it

  • Weird. I can understand keyboards doing that if they’re a membrane but a mouse shouldn’t be affected unless it’s got a pad under the button!

Yep. I get the lights overhead flickering if I also run the microwave! 😛

One laptop has W10 and cannot be upgraded to 11 for being too old while the other one is currently on W11. I haven’t had the chance…[Read more]

The biggest change to Gramps on *nix has to do with the paths. For user files, you’ll find them in ~/.gramps. Additionally, you can change the database type in settings (don’t know if it’s the same in Windows).

Everything else, as near as I can tell, should be the same as on Windows other than a few UI differences to account for differences in…[Read more]

There we go! Always found it useful!

Cool! Never tried a horror game before but it does look like a good concept. I do have some horror games I got for free, I really should give them a whirl!

It’s never a good idea to live in a town with superheroes. The insurance premiums, disruption, and constant property damage would not be fun at all,…[Read more]

It’s on the list! Going to wait for a sale, though. 🙂

I do quite enjoy the freedom of NMS and how it doesn’t have a story or anything. It does have rudimentary quests but they’re mostly designed to introduce you to the game elements. It’s not exactly an RPG, mostly a survival and space exploration game 🙂

Probably not. Now, Discworld would make…[Read more]

  • Rooting does give you more access to the underlying Linux system and lets you do things you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do, such as interface with your computer. It’s mostly for tinkerers and not all devices are easily rootable. In order to continue to update the software, you’ll need to unlock the bootloader and then install a custom ROM which…[Read more]

  • Yep, I highly recommend it if you’re up for something campy!

Haven’t seen it myself but I have been wanting to see it for a while. It is somewhat famous, though, for slapping a ton of makeup on Tim Curry!

    Could be!

Haven’t had much chance to watch much lately with everything going on but I am enjoying Midsomer Murders. 🙂

    Oh, yes, amazing music!

So I read the first book in the Wheel of Time series and it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. I found it way too similar to Lord of the Rings for my tastes. The plot was almost a carbon copy without all the fantasy creatures so it didn’t really feel all that original.

  • Spastic Hamburger replied to the topic Random in the forum Discussion 1 year, 2 months ago

I could try it on Linux, certainly! It’s really just VR that must be done on Windows due to how the driver layers work 🙂

Cracked used to be good but I haven’t checked in on them in at least ten years while The Onion is always a hoot! 🦉

    Could be! 😀

I do want to get back to writing in there. Maybe the new features will help give me…[Read more]

Was testing load temperatures today while playing No Man’s Sky (they’re much lower than I expected in the 70 – 80 C range) to see if I should consider doing some cooking upgrades and, while mining. The rock grew legs and ran away! They’ve changed the game a lot since I last played 😛

I was at the store the other day and saw they had the Mad Film Special compilation so I went ahead and grabbed it. Have some of the content in my old issues (I remember some of the cartoons) but it should be fun!
