Got my subscription to Nature! First issue should arrive in the next couple of weeks and then I’ll be getting an issue a week!

  • It’s always nice to get ahead in life. It’d be hard to see otherwise!

They’re also working on burrowing robots to explore the moons. If they make them bigger or modular (as we know, I like modular space technology and wish it’d be used more), they could also be used to carve out dwelling space. Of course, the travel would need to be figured out but the dwelling area would at least be already prepared, providing a…[Read more]

  • You’re not missing much! One feature of CEC is that it’s supposed to sync up the video modes to help them play nice. I have my TV set to a specific mode for eye comfort and at 4k but the Roku, which I had manually set to 4k as I didn’t like the look of how my TV presents 4k HDR, keeps wanting to flip back to Automatic which sets it to 1080p Dolby…[Read more]

I love the bulk aisles! They even sell spices in bulk, which is nice. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with grinding my grains to make flour and it tastes quite different from the store bought flour but in a good way! 🙂

Cool! Probably a bit involved for my decorating skills but amazing! I’ve seen cakes made up like steaks, sandwiches, and more!…[Read more]

We have a local grocery store that sells everything, including tubs of lard that can’t be found in regular grocery stores. I can also get produce there that I can’t get anywhere else, such as bitter melon. Only store in town that sells rhubarb 😀

Big fan of bran muffins here. I usually make them with flaxseed meal instead of eggs and they’re…[Read more]

  • Well, finally got the external speakers hooked up to the TV (better late than never!) so no more garbled dialogue! 😛

Took my dog a bit to get used to it. Going to need to give things a bit of a whirl! Still need to tweak the sound settings to my personal preferences but that’ll come 🙂

Started trying out the cake recipes and they’re turning out amazing! For the holidays, I made a chocolate layer cake with chocolate raspberry frosting and it was delicious!

  • Think it might be a reference to this gem 😛 Caught it on the MST3K marathon some years ago 😀

Yep, it’s the best song Futurama has ever done. It’s wonderful!

Lovely! Seriously need to watch that show!

  • A Zoidberg a day keeps the doctor away! 😀 Of course, he’s not a very good doctor 😛

  • Yep! I really enjoy the awfulness of them 😛 About ten years ago, I watched The Star Wars Holiday Special. It was quite memorable, especially when the Wookiees were given the equivalent of porn 😛

Yeah, I really need to watch Portlandia one of these days!

Eventually, I’ll get back to anime and other stuff. Don’t know when but I will!

Oh, didn’t mean they didn’t have any just that I already read it all! 😛

Looks like Kobo may have changed their terms so that free public-domain works are no longer in the eBook store. Fortunately, the Kobo devices allow one to easily sideload files just like a USB drive so I’ll probably do that if the library access doesn’t come back soon. Being…[Read more]

  • It’s that time again!

    My annual Futurama rewatch 😀

  • Haven’t seen Santa v Martians in a decade but, as I recall, he simply teaches them a holiday lesson. I had an old writeup on the Lab about it so we’ve got it in the vault! It was horrendous 😛

Nope, haven’t seen it. When it came out, I had just started my TCM phase so I missed it (along with a lot of other films released since :P). Will try to…[Read more]

They also have mice with a thumb trackball, giving you a combination. Would be pretty cool in games!

I don’t do well with touchpads. My fingers are so rough that they wear off the coating in a month making them very difficult to use thereafter 😛

Yep! Spiders would also be a good fit! Lots of potential uses for such a device!

    Yeah, they use…[Read more]

A trackball may help as well, assuming one can find it these days. I’m sure they exist as they’re still pretty popular in the art and design fields 🙂

Could be fun to use it to scan random things around the home, such as ink pens or even a sandwich 😛

Cool! One of these days, we probably need to get a thread on books going. 🙂

    Right now, it’s a…[Read more]

  • Sorry! Been a bit preoccupied with catching up on sleep and pouring over the site’s update issues 😛

The list for 100% is much longer! I’m also a fan of this article 😀

The Death Wish films had very similar plots, too! Probably need to watch them again just to make a more modern critique 😛

Sounds terrible. Of course, that means I need to watch…[Read more]

Nope. Used to follow their RSS feed but it doesn’t look like they have that anymore? May need to sign up for the newsletter then 🙂 Biggest worry with Mailchimp would be if someone gained access to their database and got you on more spam lists. Not exactly an ideal situation 😛

That gives me an idea for floating brooms for a theme park ride. Will…[Read more]
