    It’s that time again!

    My annual Futurama rewatch πŸ˜€

Haven’t seen Santa v Martians in a decade but, as I recall, he simply teaches them a holiday lesson. I had an old writeup on the Lab about it. It was horrendous πŸ˜›

Nope, haven’t seen it. When it came out, I had just started my TCM phase so I missed it (along with a lot of other films released since :P). Will try to rectify it though

Saw Bloody Birthday yesterday and that was quite fun. Definitely will watch again!

    in reply to: Litespeed #1690

Could be. Should we try disabling the LiteSpeed for a week or so (letting it flush) and seeing if that improves behavior any? Not disabling it permanently, just trying to narrow things down πŸ™‚

Was wondering about the downgrade as parts of the theme changed back to the way it was. Very weird. Will continue over there for now!

Yeah, the sandbox just uses bbPress instead of bbPress + BuddyPress so it’s definitely something with the integration. It’s a shame bbPress is no longer actively developed and that no one has picked it up!

in reply to: All Things General and Non-Organizational #1684

The group activity tab isn’t showing up over here πŸ™

Could you copy it over? I suspect it’s saying that we downgraded and that the pagination still doesn’t work, though πŸ˜›

I still can’t figure out how the theme didn’t change until after we deactivated and reactivated. Very weird.

in reply to: Buddy Press #1679

I’m not sure. I had thought that we’d copy it into the custom snippets section but they didn’t provide any installation instructions. :/

No worries! It’ll get done when it gets done!

Yep, spammers are getting more productive these days! The other week, I got ten emails in a single day for a crypto scam πŸ˜›

in reply to: Buddy Press #1676

Looks good but how do we apply it?

Sounds good. We can wait to install the new theme πŸ™‚

They also have mice with a thumb trackball, giving you a combination. Would be pretty cool in games!

I don’t do well with touchpads. My fingers are so rough that they wear off the coating in a month making them very difficult to use thereafter πŸ˜›

Yep! Spiders would also be a good fit! Lots of potential uses for such a device! Could even do beetles! They’d be a lot of fun!

Yeah, they use Overdrive/libby and Adobe Digital Editions. Not exactly a good combination πŸ™ Though, they work great when they work. πŸ˜›

I’ll give it another day or so before I start combing Project Gutenberg again for public domain books. Going to miss reading science fiction, though

    Sorry, bit slow right now

Yeah, sounds good. Right now, I’d recommend leaving the email as using the stearnvault one as suggested. We can always revisit it down the road πŸ™‚

Ideally, the site would have it’s own email address so as to reduce confusion on the users’ end but we’ll get there!

We also have some breakage we’re dealing with πŸ˜›

    in reply to: Random #1666

A trackball may help as well, assuming one can find it these days. I’m sure they exist as they’re still pretty popular in the art and design fields πŸ™‚

Could be fun to use it to scan random things around the home, such as ink pens or even a sandwich πŸ˜›

Cool! One of these days, we probably need to get a thread on books going. πŸ™‚

Right now, it’s a bit difficult for me to get books as the library system on the e-reader has been acting up for the last month or so. It does this periodically and is very annoying when it does. πŸ™

I like using it from the e-reader as it lets me browse similar books and things instead of knowing what I want from the library already if I were to use the standalone software

Sorry! Been a bit preoccupied with catching up on sleep and pouring over the site’s update issues πŸ˜›

The list for 100% is much longer! I’m also a fan of this article πŸ˜€

The Death Wish films had very similar plots, too! Probably need to watch them again just to make a more modern critique πŸ˜›

Sounds terrible. Of course, that means I need to watch it. πŸ˜›

Watched the annual Mythbusters marathon with my mom the other day and she wasn’t a fan of it! It’s a lot of fun! Of course, they never did take the change of gravity into account when the things they’re testing don’t occur on Earth. That would greatly affect things!

Looks like deactivating the plugin and then turning it back on triggered a reset of the selectors too to the new ones we thought were going to go into effect. Not sure why the theme changes didn’t go into effect when the plugin was updated but I’ll see if I can reconstruct the selectors for the CSS.

Yeah, we may want to rollback to 11.3.2 from here since some critical things are a bit broken and see if that fixes things for a bit

Sounds good. They may want it on Trac but we’ll find out once dessert is ready! πŸ™‚

in reply to: Buddy Press #1653

Yeah, that converted it from a group forum to a regular one (and cost me my avatar :P). My understanding is that the compatibility plugin only functions if BuddyPress is activated.

If we need to, we can always turn off the groups feature in BuddyPress and install a different plugin to give us groups since BuddyPress does provide a lot of other nice features but there may be the chance the BuddyPress folks are able to fix things πŸ™‚

in reply to: Buddy Press #1649

    No such luck πŸ™

Probably best to start by reaching out to the BuddyPress folks as it’s most likely to be fixed on their end if it doesn’t need to be fixed in the bbPress code itself

I’ve never had goose before but duck is delicious. Of course, it also helps to keep you from hitting the ceiling but then so does reading the proper labels on the items on the table! πŸ˜›

Time to reform the Marshmallow Brigade, made from real marsh mud!

in reply to: No Sign-up Link #1646

Right now, the site is set to invite only with registration disabled. We can either turn it on or set it up to manually approve each registration request. The regular private forums are set to be viewed by any member that’s logged in but we can change it to admins only (the group forums are private to the groups with the way we have them set right now) if desired πŸ™‚

in reply to: Buddy Press #1641

Definitely the interaction between the two plugins so trying out BP Classic is probably a good idea to see if it fixes anything πŸ™‚

I want to test something first in the sand castle! When I get the chance, I’m going to spam it with threads. Since it’s not a group forum, BuddyPress shouldn’t affect the page loading. Sorry! Was so tired the last few days that it didn’t even occur to me! πŸ˜›

If it turns out to be a basic bug in bbPress, we’ll need to regroup and assault the fortified anthill another way on our way to conquering the mongoose nest. But first, we must eat pheasants. Why? Because I like pheasant! Hard to get here, though. I need to hire a conjurer πŸ˜›

Weird, the timestamp of the most recent post in the forum index is broken: it pegs it at five months instead of a few weeks.

Anyways! So I got to thinking that it would be fun to actually fly on a broom. Perfectly doable but also rather dangerous for a variety of reasons. Inside a giant cylinder, you’d put the broom with a metal core. The cylinder itself would consist of a current running through it, creating a magnetic field on the interior. So kind of like maglev or an MRI but the current, like maglev, would move in a single direction to pull the broom forward. A cylinder would allow it to float in all directions, such as what happens when you drop a magnetic bearing down a pipe. The person would sit on the broom and would even be able to steer it, assuming they don’t have any metal on their person. Don’t want their clothes being ripped off on the ride! Or worse!
