On the list, (so long as Ming matches up with the character portrayed in the comic strip. 😛 )
Six Minutes to Midnight worked as a thriller – 6 or 7 out of 10 perhaps, the critics were obviously put off by extrapolation of the real life events. If they expected more from the film, what?
Funny how Body Double initially flopped. Here’s the trailer:

interesting cast selection, esp. Dennis Franz, and check out the penthouse. Definitely want one of these over here! 🙂
      Penthouse
The Tail o’ the Pup hotdog stand featured in the opening scenes, overjoyed to see it recently restored! 🙂

      It’s a wonderful film!

I think part of the issue is that it’s a bit hard to get creative with war films these days. Granted, they can still be good (Das Boot comes to mind) but I think the general public has grown weary of the genre as of late, especially with all the global conflicts in the last decade. Speaking of Das Boot, I really need to watch it in full one day.

Body Double looks interesting, will definitely add it to the list. I’ve heard of some of his other films (and even seen a couple) but Body Double isn’t that appeared on the radar. 🙂

Yay! On an unrelated note, we need another world’s fair. The image reminds me of the towers from the one in New York, which brought it to mind 😛

Been watching Dragon Ball Z Kai to pick up where I left off from the regular version of DBZ back in 2010. Probably should have stuck with the original. Kai streamlined the series by cutting out a lot of so called filler but I liked the filler! Many of the episodes they removed were character building episodes that didn’t have much bearing on the overall plot but gave you a better look at the characters’ personalities. 🙁

Very interesting! Are the English DBZK episodes dubbed or subtitled – info not often easy to get via Googling or even on Wikipedia.
The Descent is rather depressing, saying that is actually a spoiler if you intend to watch it, so belated spoiler alert!
Streaming Noughts + Crosses at the moment – nicely put together and presented with a nicely paced plot, you won’t be bowled over by the superfluity of incisive dialogue though.
Started to really getting into The Control Room, when it ended all of a sudden after three episodes. Funny these days how we are all getting acclimatised to 6 or more episodes in a said series. 😛
Oh, the dialogue in Boiling Point is very much in the idiom of the theatre of the stage, and therefore quite something else, even if I didn’t quite get all of it. Blame the lack of subtitles, my hearing, sound recording, restaurant hubbub, and the poor acoustics – after all, it was a real restaurant. Recommended.

Yep, it’s been dubbed! I always try to watch dubs as I have issues with reading subtitles and following along with what’s going on onscreen at the same time 🙂

Been meaning to watch The Descent since it came across my radar a few years ago. Saw it mentioned somewhere in passing and I thought it looked intriguing but it was pushed to the back of my mind until recently.

And to think, over here, 12 – 20 episodes per season is the norm! British seasons are half our length! Never did understand that. 😛 Granted, British shows are often of higher quality than ours. Ours are a lot more pulpy 😛

Watched Friday the 13th The other day and that was enjoyable. Wasn’t a big fan of the bobbing camera they used to hide the killer, though. Found it a bit disorienting. Also have Child’s Play on the list, which should be fun!

        #1204

Child’s Play was fun but, golly, it had a lot of plot holes!

For example: they jumped from the kid being in a mental institution, just having busted out of his cell but wandering the facility still, to being at home. How did he get out without anyone catching him? How did he find his way home? It was 1988! It’s not like he had GPS (it was primarily for military use at the time) or had been to the institution before! Or at least enough to be able to find his way home without assistance

Ah, the 1988 original. The 2019 film is also a slasher. 🙂
Descent 2 played out the way one expected it, provided they had seen Descent 1, thus not so much dramatic tension, and no variation from the effects of pathos. 🙁
Also streaming Zola, it’s lively, and rather risque. 🙂

          #1211

Cool! Didn’t know they did a reboot. And a TV show…? Didn’t know that.

These films can be fun but the plots are always full of holes (no pun intended…I think) ! I guess that’s part of why I like them. 😛

Sounds fun! Will add it to the list! Only available for rental currently but maybe that’ll change 🙂

So Disney is coming out with a box set consisting of most of their films: https://www.polygon.com/23868034/disney-100-movie-blu-ray-set-pre-order

          Very cool but expensive!

          #1257

Watched Nightmare on Elm Street the other day. While good, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. For some reason, I have a hard time getting into supernatural horror films. I like the corniness of creature-features and slasher films 😛

          #1258

          I miss old cartoons!

Aw shucks, no blu ray here, couldn’t they conjure up a Mickey Mouse styled DVD set for the rest of us luddites, or even better, load it all on USB stick or even Torrent!
Freddie is unforgettable though, once he has popped up in the corner of your frustrum, he’ll never go away!
            Classic! 🙂
The Paris Creation model is beautiful, but will those Louis XIV curtains hide everything that is bound to happen inside?
Yeah the Mexican jumping beans idea could turn the fast food industry on its head – mouth wide open! Wonder why the chicken slot machine idea never took off – over here you could go down the club, play the slots, and then buy a ticket for the meat hamper raffle. Not the same thing though. 😛

I do like having discs around. They’re quite handy! I used to take a laptop on school trips (along with a few discs, of course) so that I could watch films with my friends in the hotel rooms. We’d also watch them on the bus. Can’t do that with streaming!

Yep. Started watching Scream the other day after finishing the Friday the 13th series and the Scream films are a blast! They’re mostly slasher films with comedy mixed in. They poke fun at slasher film tropes and even include some pop culture references here and there. For instance, Craven shows up as a janitor dressed as Freddy. 😛

Well, we do have KFC vending machines 😀

And, whoops, I copied the Farm of Tomorrow twice! Meant to have the House of Tomorrow in there!

Might be some fun ideas in there that we could borrow!

Tex Avery cartoons were some of the best. I loved his off the wall humor. He got canned from WB after displaying Bugs falling off a cliff, though. 🙁

Funny, our houses of tomorrow never did ever get the technology to fool the IRS like that. Along with the extra hurdles of instantly converting the 500 hectares of manicured gardens into an impassable weedy wasteland, and back again!
Never tire of any of the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes cartoons!
              What’s your favourite Scream movie?

              #1289

So far, I’ve only managed to watch the first one. Haven’t had the chance to watch the other ones yet but I really enjoyed it!

Going to try and watch the Great Pumpkin soon. That’s always fun 🙂

              #1302

Scream 2 had better satire but the first film had more depth to the characters. Overall, they were both very good films.

I still need to watch Rainman again. Kind of got distracted watching all these goodies 😛

If it is this one with Charlie Brown, the music hits the right spot. 🙂
Anything with Dustin Hoffman is worth a gander, and Rain Man is a super bonus in the event the Vegas itch ever gets the better of us and our card counting mates!
Streaming all the series of Departure, it’s great if you like quick plot development, crash porn, and well dressed people strutting around being very much up to speed in solving important cases. (Quite interesting as well.) 🙂
Right at the beginning Underwater gets straight into the slushy and squelchy D & D action with little fanfare, it takes the liberty of assuming one is already familiar with the layout of the vast water catacomb. Could not resist the desire to leave the movie halfway through, but not before hearing this joke. 😛

                #1330

                Yep, that’s the one!

Went to watch it yesterday but, sadly, it’s behind a paywall. I had seen an article saying it’d be free for the season so I’ll check the information again. It’s possible I tried to watch it too early. I miss it being on OTA. 🙁

We watched Rain Man in my psych class and would pause it every so often to go over the events in the film. It worked pretty well! 🙂

Christopher Plummer’s usually pretty good, especially his older stuff. Will check it out!

Yep, saw it earlier this year! You didn’t miss a whole lot. 😛 Gorgeous scenery beset by a dull and senseless plot without any sort of information to help immerse you in the film. No real background or anything. If they had added on ten more minutes of set up, it would have been quite fun!

Saw the Friday the 13th reboot yesterday and it wasn’t anything to write home about. Not only did they shoehorn a missing persons plot in it which distracted from the basic premise of the series, they also changed Jason’s nature and relied a lot more on sex than the previous films.

I need to check out some of the horror-specific streaming services at some point. There may be one that catches the eye 🙂

Also rewatched the Nightmare Before Christmas the other day. That one’s always fun! May watch Coraline again soon 🙂

                #1340

                Coraline was fun. 🙂

Saw Sleepaway Camp II yesterday and it was a blast! Going to watch the third film next!

Something that old to be still behind a paywall? Does it come through on IA?
As a matter of interest, they screened the original Friday the 13th last night. The first 45 minutes came across as a thin, run of the mill chain of events, turned out to be the right formula for the bunch of shocks that ensued. 🙂

                  #1370

Yeah, Apple has exclusive rights to it here. Hopefully it’ll be going into the public domain soon.

It really picks up with the second film when Jason starts his rampage. Of course, the films get sillier with each one released 😛

Rewatched Hospital Massacre the other day after seeing it as part of a slasher marathon OTA years ago. Still pretty meh. 😛
