Could be! It’d be hilarious if the models start acting like HAL 9000 if they get trained on Arthur C Clark 😛

Yep, the sequels are definitely on the list! Also added a bunch of old sci-fi and horror films from the 50s and earlier. I can also get the colorized version of Night of the Living Dead but I prefer to watch these types of films in their original formats, either BW or color.

Never been a big fan of zombie films myself. I think the main issue is that there’s not much imagination to them.

Saw Opera yesterday and it was a very good psychological thriller. Highly recommended.

Interesting, that’s in Italian – are you conversant, or like me, dependent on subscripts.
Do recommend the first two Rush Hour flicks, superb choreography and LOL moments. 🙂
The Assignment is on FTA tonight:

Dr. Rachel Jane is a rogue plastic surgeon with a twisted vision of a better world.

What we need is more folks with a better vision of a twisted world. 😛
Might ditch that for Copycat instead. 🙂

I watched a dubbed version, which they did a good job on 🙂

Yep! Seen them! They’re a riot!

Weaver in something that’s not science fiction? That’s unusual 😛

Watched The Evil Dead II yesterday and that was fun. Weird film but fun. Loved the part where Ash cuts off his hand and then pins it with copy of A Farewell to Arms 😀

The Batman with ads consumed most of the evening. All the sounds of Gotham are imbued in the all pervading dark noise, thereby detracting a little from the impact of the fine score and dialogue. The purpose of the Riddler murders at the beginning seemed to get lost in other incongruities, his later revealed character turned out to be an interesting contrast. The characters and visuals/effects make this worth watching, despite the slightly amorphous plot. Recommended! 🙂

Yeah, I still need to watch that one. It’s definitely on the list!

Watched Army of Darkness so that finishes the set. Had some time afterwards so I also rewatched Meatballs. Needed that. Completely plotless but still a fun watch 🙂

From Evil Dead to Meatballs – heck that’s some leap of genre, a mighty fine soundtrack as well. Love Moondust and of course the title track. On the list for an encore view!
And now, for a double leap of genre (or bovine over the moon), First Cow with the 4:3 aspect nicely includes a retro touch to the experience. As the film does not boast whizbangery in the sets or a quotable grab-bag of fortune cookies, expectations might be dampened, the impression here was … basic, expecting, and above all, unforgettable. The evocation of the humanity, cakes, and the circumstances will surely change the way we see cows. 🙂

I’ve mostly run the gamut of older horror films now after a couple of years so I figure it’s time for a bit of a change 😛

Could rewatch the old Universal Monsters films but I’ve seen those so many times that I want something a bit different 😛

I’m way overdo for a rewatch of Rain Man. Probably need to fix that! 🙂

Night Shift was a lot of fun. Some of the scenes were heavily inspired by After Hours but Winkler and Keaton had amazing synergy together. 🙂

Another one with a good soundtrack bursting with Bacharach numbers like Girls Know How. 🙂
There is a lot of tension in Hereditary where things get a little bezonkers, especially Toni Collette, which explains the downvotes from the “average cinema-goer” according to CinemaScore. Well put together movie, recommended if really good old horror sugar hits are in short supply. 🙂

Was thinking about Porky’s for this week but it’s not available for streaming over here. Think I may watch Ad Astra instead. Been a while since I watched a killer space film 🙂

Streaming is getting annoying. It’s getting harder and harder to find stuff on the platforms as the services are beginning to forgo traditional categories and sorting algorithms in favor of “recommendations”, half of which I’ve already watched on said platform. That and a lot of stuff is simply disappearing, such as a lot of Woody Allen films. I’m probably going to start going back to physical media soon. More expensive but at least I’ll be able to find what I want to watch! Either that or simply move back to the antenna 😛

Do recall Ad Astra on FTA here some years back- it’s bound to make a re-appearance sometime.
Really that bad? Most of the FTA streaming sections boast a comprehensive line-up of goodies, old and new, it’s the migration over to Fetch that has uncovered bugs that make streaming more screaming than ever before. A lot of it appears to be on the Fetch side, which seems to indicate they are in thrall of the big commercial streaming companies.
Doesn’t harm to check the DVDs in the hand-me-down stores from time to time, last month someone here donated seasons 1-9 of Futurama!
Rocket fuel came up recently in Random, how about the spice they use in Dune? The film runs at a steady, regal pace, weaving in much detail from the novel into the panoramic and immersive experience. One of the critics said she didn’t appreciate the jokes. Huh? Nothing in there was LOL, in fact not even a grin emerged for this countenance, as methinks it was not the purpose of the direction. Never got the feeling MENA actors were absent either, a thing more attributed to individual interpretation and understanding of casting and characterization. A thing most viewers wouldn’t feel the urge to worry about too much after watching a film like Dune. 🙂

Ad Astra was incredible. It focused almost entirely on the journey with a slight dash of the politics involved, giving us a nice and relaxing space film. The ongoing narration as opposed to current interactions really sold it as a narrative. You could actually feel the distance and tension it was trying to portray in lonely space. The visuals and music were icing on the cake. Will definitely put that in the list for a physical copy 🙂

Yeah, the international market has it much better. Over here, I think they use us as guinea pigs. 😛 Roku doesn’t have proper categories and only shows a snippet of what’s on the service. In order to find the other stuff, it’s a matter of searching for a title and hoping it’s available. Tubi keeps recommending stuff I’ve already watched on the service and even puts those at the top of the categories. Fortunately, they do have proper categories. Amazon Prime doesn’t have categories at all, which is weird for a paid service. It’s pretty frustrating 🙁

A lot of stuff isn’t even available to rent, such as the aforementioned Woody Allen films. Why they’re not available anywhere is mind boggling.

Amazing find! Futurama is definitely worth it! I may pick up a 4k Blu-Ray player next month during the holiday sales. 🙂

Haven’t seen the film but I did read the books. Probably need to watch them at some point. I never did understand the relationship between the psychedelic spice and space travel. It was never properly explained in the books! 😛

Is it explained in the films?

Was digging through the horror section on PlutoTV the other day and this one near the bottom caught my eye. No idea how they sort the categories but it was pretty good! Interestingly, the RT score is 90% but the IMDB score is close to 50-60%. Granted, they use different metrics but still interesting 🙂

No detailed or convincing explanation of how spice worked from memory, there was a short history of its use though.
The IMDB seems to be more “popularity” based, how would your average Joe react as opposed to yer regular discerning critic. The RT score for Extreme Measures is slightly below the IMDB score, as some parts of the film took on a rather shaky direction. Gene Hackmann vs. Hugh Grant went the way of chalk vs. cheese and the interplay of the goons in the plot lurched it back into the doldrums of B grade schlock. The building tension and dialog kept the movie afloat, just.

Granted, most of the stuff I watch has terrible scores on both IMDB and RT…. 😛

                Bad movies are fun!

Haven’t gotten much chance to watch anything really noticeable lately as they were roofing next door. May switch over to holiday mode soon, though. In which case, I absolutely have to watch classics like The Star Wars Holiday Special and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians with a little bit of Christmas Vacation mixed in. Some of those are better films than others…. 😛
