Looks very nice. Never had any luck over here with e-shavers and batteries, mainly because everything then was Ni-Cad. Which explains the preference for power straight to the sockets – (and hence the rickety connections 😛 ). So good idea to check on the efficacy and user experience of any battery powered units.

Thanks! Taking a look at them now, this one looks like a good middle of the road option?

    Great!

I really miss games hosting the leaderboards on an easily accessible site. 🙁 Granted, that hasn’t been much of a thing in a long time but I still miss it! It was fun to check in and see how you were doing compared to everyone else throughout the day.…[Read more]

No problem with the actual shaving moves, even with the blades blunt as they are. The ultimate wish is for a blunt blade flash alert, requiring a snazzy kind of shaver with such self-check features. 🙂
    Better performance in Freecell today.
    FreeCell results @ AFK
Wonder why MS can’t provide direct urls for those results, other than more paying customers that is. 😛

Finally got around to seeing The Stepford Wives the other day. While it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. Found it a bit bland for some reason or other.

Yeah, not a fan of subtitles. Over here, it was dubbed but they hadn’t bothered to change any of the credits to english. 😛

Probably hasn’t aged well, either. Still on the list, though! Almost watched it a few weeks ago but watched something else. 😛

Do like Gibson’s writing. He even did an episode of the X-Files!

Saw this low profile sci-fi…[Read more]

My kind of movie, pity about the subtitles, on these screens one has to squint.
Johhny Mnemonic was a nice concept, the intro got you in, somehow the rest of it failed to retain much interest, probably attributable to a set of expectations of the movie at odds with those of the director. 😛
And now for something completely different, the 40 year…[Read more]

Saw The Lift yesterday and that was pretty fun, if somewhat cheesy. In one scene, the elevators play hide and seek with a girl before eating her teddy bear. 😛

How do they handle the upper lip? They’re not too large, are they? My only experience is with foil razors 🙂

Looks like most electric razors these days are cordless. Not too worried about battery capacity as they’ll only be used for a brief time daily so it’ll be a long time before the batteries are no longer able to hold a charge. Sadly, it does…[Read more]

Huh, no device loading is pretty weird. Had that happen over here a couple of months ago but it cleared itself up after a few microcode and kernel updates (even weirder as that shouldn’t have affected the UEFI). Does everything still work in the OS itself?

Up here have an old Philips HQ6415, downstairs an HQ6946 which has an online registration posted somewhere.
Did get replacement blades three or four years ago for both, worn out again unfortunately. The big problem with these is the socket connector is too loose, so cord tends to fall out while in use. Might not be an issue with the pricier…[Read more]

A rather irritating issue has cropped up with the HP, no usable mouse or keyboard at the UEFI. No-one is biting, hopefully something after posting a few more updates there?

Here’s an interesting idea for an experiment:

Plug a generative AI extension into a blog and set it to output articles based on random input (source yet to be thought of) and set it to run periodically, mimicking ab actual writer. The idea would be to see how weird things get over time. 😛

  • Spastic Hamburger replied to the topic Computer Setup in the forum Projects 1 month, 1 week ago

Haven’t tried it on mine yet. I really should as I’ve had it for a year now. 😛

Do have a few programs that take advantage of it, such as Hogwarts Legacy, so it may be worth giving it a whirl. 🙂

For Oblivion, make sure you don’t forget that you can’t use HDR with another setting (been so long that I can’t remember the conflict). You need to…[Read more]

it’s safe to say there was an acute awareness of the two HDRs, even though a little voice piped up to say, “yes, play Oblivion with this on in windows, and you won’t have to worry about the HDR in the game settings.” Pixies have teamed up with goblins again. In any case, there’s another reason to skip the Windows HDR settings on the ViewSonic, is…[Read more]

  • Good to see that the community is trying to take it over. I wonder if they’ll get permission to continue printing it? I do remember it from when it was active but not very well. Mostly, I remember seeing the product on store shelves.

WotC recently integrated LotR into MTG with great success. Perhaps that will help give it a future?

  • Merlin’s name was actually Emrys, only used by Druids and diviners in the show.
Their reason for ethereal plots is that ghosts are of that composition, an idea that could have been conveyed in the film’s prologue, Carradine would have been the perfect choice. 🙂

    Looks much better! 🙂
Thought it might be worth throwing in a passing mention to the old LOTR TCG (not to be confused with the LOTR Card Game) in the off chance you had not seen it. There was quite an adverse reaction to the game at the time, hopefully The Players’ Council have made the game playing experience more palatable for the detractors.

  • Thanks. Will keep that in mind! 🙂

I suppose I could also replace the keycaps periodically but that’d get kind of annoying 😛

Went ahead and retired the three Dell monitors last year. Still have them in the closet but I don’t use them now as the panels had some color issues. Kind of miss 16:10 though.

Grease is always a problem, what was once tried here was to dip a hard med/small paintbrush into a cup containing hot water and a good squeeze of detergent concentrate, and holding the keyboard upside down, run the brush slowly around the keys. Solvents might be a bit risky. Keep keyboard upside down until dry, and clean up with a soft cloth…[Read more]

  • Yep, remember Merlin. Only caught the first couple of episodes, though, before school got in the way. Really need to rewatch it in full at some point. Interesting that they named the Lady of the Lake Freya. Freyja. Freyja was the Nordic deity of sex and foresight.
