  • Looks like Windows 11 24H2 is being pushed out. The changes don’t look too significant. The biggest change is support for AI compute cores. Another notable one is support for WiFi 7. Other than that, it looks like it’s mostly minor tweaks to the UI in addition to other bug fixes under the hood.

Yuck, yuck, yuck. Boeing is still recovering from that fiasco. They’re now talking about splitting the company up to try and recover much needed funds. And let’s not forget all of the worker strikes!

I think it involves the destruction of Tokyo but, honestly, I didn’t look closely at the box. I figured that, either way, it would be awesome enough…[Read more]

Heh, there’s also the real life Boeing MCAS saga which turned the planes into flying death traps. The FDA, like other large orgs is little more than a coterie of small fiefdoms ruled by folks who care for little more than the unbroken teflon of their backsides. These kinds of criticisms will, as you know, either be denied outright, or referred…[Read more]

Oh, NMS is currently running this year’s expeditions again, with a new one every two weeks, for the next ten weeks or so

Yeah, Wikipedia’s plot summaries are an interesting thing. Sometimes, they’re little more than a short blurb, other times a blow-by-blow account, and then you have the cases where they’re well done. This one looks like the latter. 🙂 Interestingly, while we discussed the book in school, we never actually read it. It’s definitely on the list,…[Read more]

There’s a guest login, only works if you get Messenger so it seems.
Most folks feel the best out of life is to get by doing just the bare minimum, until it’s holiday time at least. In many cases, the cattle truck operators are too “nice”, such pleasant demeanour caused by threats by livelihood/well-being/life by unhinged farmers.
    Have not read The…[Read more]

Excellent idea. Folks definitely need to be more aware of this stuff. Only was able to view the first few images without a Facebook account but definitely a good idea. It’s been a while since The Jungle came out and it should definitely be remembered today. 🙂

  • Pretty much the same reaction from some critics at the initial release, it was memorable enough inasmuch such a thing was never before attempted cinematically. In recollection the character dynamics worked well enough, the temptation for a repeat viewing was never there though.
Now streaming The Old Man, plenty in there of good entertainment…[Read more]

  • Alright, picked up BeamNG.drive as it was on sale. The physics are good. Really good. And the UI is a lot more intuitive than in Rigs. As expected from being the same team, there are a lot of things that are similar. The controls are also pretty fluid. Not yet sure how well the AI controlled cars work out but we’ll get there 🙂

Ah, Mr. Monopoly served with marching orders – go to jail, go directly to jail, do not collect $200. Good job.
Good also for Facebook airing the ills experienced by carriers of livestock with Crap Loading Ramps, with a growing collection of magnificent and unforgettable images we can be all proud of. 🙂

  • Finally got around to watching Mad Max. First thing I noticed was that Anarchie Road was freshly paved. The ending was inconclusive: did the last bad guy take the bait and saw of his own leg to escape of not? Not sure it really lived up to its cult status. It was almost there but was missing just enough not to reach it, in my opinion. Granted, it…[Read more]

  • I like how the popular culture section lives on in See Also but without the descriptions. The section doesn’t really detract too much from the articles as one can easily skip it and, often, the references are pretty interesting. I think they’re doing too much to make things more concise and, as a result, making it a bit less useful. To be fair,…[Read more]

Sadly, we don’t have any native plant nurseries near me so I’m probably just going to go to a nursery and pick something out.

Got plenty of that in fields around here. It’s pretty prolific! Have to be careful, though. The bugs love it!

I may have seen it somewhere recently. Not sure where but I’ll keep an eye out. I know we’ve got plenty of…[Read more]

    Cool!

Santa would definitely need to find something else to give out to the naughty people. Perhaps pumice instead? 😛

Yep, redirect the ones I can. Had to do that with a school I formerly went to. They messed up something in the email system and they kept spamming me with student newsletters even though I was no longer in their system as an…[Read more]

Did you find one? Tussocks are reliable for such a job, they also lack what we might call “aesthetic” qualities desirable for our verges. The Californian hair grass might be an exception. 🙂
Haven’t been able to secure another Red Rubin over here since posting this update back when, seen any your way?

  • In response to this observation, there has been more action on trimming the Wikipedia content down as per e.g the 2007 Wikipedia: “In Popular Culture” Content article. Do like the xkcd ref. 🙂
Take, for example, this revision of the page for What Are Little Boys Made Of before the section got chopped. This is the current page.

Today, you can get them out of the jar.
Spray on is brilliant, forget about putting it to use in places like Lahore or Delhi until at least the folks over there get back on their bikes/carts/rickshaws, and stop burning coal. In doing that throws up a whole new bunch of issues though. 😛

We have some of those trash cans downtown! Don’t know if they have light strips, though. It’s been a while since I’ve been there when it’s dark 😛

Some of the heat generated may be able to be offset by the use of a water sink to absorb the excess energy. Maybe use it to help irrigate the surrounding area? Desert greening could be considered bad,…[Read more]

  • Yeah, they never did really take off in the stores. Now, you have to find them at online specialty shops (even Amazon only has a few) such as this one. My new Blu-Ray player supports SACD for whatever reason so I may pick one up at some point and give the format a whirl. See if it’s all it’s cracked up to be 🙂

I still have my GameCube even…[Read more]

  • Haven’t seen SACDs or the players over here much at all, mostly because of the impetus to go looking. Don’t recall them occupying the prime spots in any of the shop display windows either, funnily enough. They wanted an ad campaign of Coca Cola magnitude to really set the market on fire, and as things have turned out, likely to have set a lot off…[Read more]
