Note:
Resolution must be at least 800X600 or the Installer will abort without warning.
There may be issues getting a free midi port if running in
VirtualBox.
Installing:
Download the old installer
here (21.3Mb). Do
not play the game before manually upgrading- see below.
If there are problems with the sound files, consider downloading them
here (11.2Mb).
Just copy to, then run from, your MyReels base directory, after reading the
Readme for 2.2.2X.
Users of version 2.2.3 or later can choose different midi devices if there are problems getting output playing midi files.
For Pre Win2K installations: I've taken MSVCRT.dll and MSVCIRT.dll out of the installation as they should
be present on most WIN32 systems. They sometimes got unintentionally removed in
the uninstall and were only included because of yesteryear dramas with 95a.
If anybody is missing them from their systems, please drop me a line; find them in
here.
Extract the archive & copy the two files to your %winsys% (either system or system32) directory.
Upgrading:
If you do not upgrade from V2.2.X to V2.2.2X (and 3.0 + restrictions) with the
chm version (recommended: 5+ Mb), read on.
In order to view the MyReels help, please consult the
Microsoft Support Page for old versions of help.
Alternate repository for the help files
here , caps off to MS.
For Win 8_Players, taking ownership of, and rename the old winhlp32.exe before extracting
this
to their Windows directory is also possible.
Further workarounds discussed at this
thread.
Unless there is a good reason not to, most of the linked files in this spoiler will eventually be removed.
If you prefer using MyReels with the older and unupdated executable with WinHelp, upgrade from V2.2.X to V2.2.2X with the
winhlp32 version (5+ Mb).
